# Duelpilot vs GrowthBook

> Open-source feature flags and warehouse-native A/B testing, self-hosted or cloud, for product, engineering and data teams. Duelpilot is A/B testing run by your own AI agent over MCP, with a person approving every launch. Both can be used by an AI agent over MCP. The biggest difference is who launches: in GrowthBook an agent can start tests itself, in Duelpilot a person approves (or an owner's autopilot policy, within guardrails). GrowthBook is priced per seat; Duelpilot is flat per site, without AI credits.

| | Duelpilot | GrowthBook |
|---|---|---|
| MCP server or agent API | Yes — Remote MCP server with 48 tools; OAuth for claude.ai and ChatGPT, bearer token elsewhere. [source](https://duelpilot.com/agents.md) | Yes — Hosted at mcp.growthbook.io/mcp or local via @growthbook/mcp. [source](https://docs.growthbook.io/integrations/mcp) |
| Your own agent designs variants | Yes — Your agent designs 2–4 variants per idea, each with a preview and a device check. [source](https://duelpilot.com/agents.md) | Yes — growthbook\_api\_write can make any write call the REST API allows, including creating experiments. [source](https://docs.growthbook.io/integrations/mcp) |
| An agent can launch tests without a person | No — A person approves every launch; an owner can switch on an autopilot policy with guardrails, never an agent. [source](https://duelpilot.com/index.md) | Yes — Optional: the API write tool can start experiments; confirmation can be required per API key, and the bundled skills describe draft, review, publish. [source](https://docs.growthbook.io/integrations/mcp) |
| Visual tests on any website | Yes — One script tag; works with React/Next.js, Vue, Astro, SPAs and strict CSP. [source](https://duelpilot.com/index.md) | Partly — AI Visual Editor (Chrome extension) on Pro and Enterprise; delivery through the Script Tag, JS/React or Edge SDK. [source](https://docs.growthbook.io/app/visual) |
| Server-side / code experiments | Yes — Code plan only: your agent builds the arms in your repo behind Duelpilot flags. [source](https://duelpilot.com/agents.md) | Yes — Feature flags and server-side experiments are the core product. [source](https://www.growthbook.io/pricing) |
| Sequential (peek-safe) statistics | Yes — mSPRT: always-valid p-values, safe to check daily. [source](https://duelpilot.com/index.md) | Yes — Sequential testing available with the frequentist engine; Bayesian is the default. [source](https://docs.growthbook.io/statistics/overview) |
| Charges for AI usage / credits | No — The AI runs in your own agent's subscription. [source](https://duelpilot.com/pricing.md) | Partly — No credits, but AI usage limits differ by tier (limited on Starter, 5x on Pro, custom on Enterprise). [source](https://www.growthbook.io/pricing) |
| Free plan | No — No free plan; your first test is free on every plan, Starter from €9/month. [source](https://duelpilot.com/pricing.md) | Yes — Starter is free for up to 3 users; self-hosted open source is free. [source](https://www.growthbook.io/pricing) |

## What GrowthBook does well

- Open source and self-hostable; unlimited flags, experiments and traffic on every tier (growthbook.io/pricing).
- Warehouse-native: analyses run on your own data warehouse (growthbook.io).
- Bayesian or frequentist engine with CUPED; sequential testing on the frequentist engine (docs.growthbook.io/statistics/overview).
- Hosted MCP server with OAuth, or local via npm/Docker (docs.growthbook.io/integrations/mcp).

## What Duelpilot does well

- Your own agent does the research, design, checks and monitoring over MCP (48 tools); no AI bill from Duelpilot.
- A person approves every launch: no MCP tool can approve, launch, pick a winner or ship.
- Always-valid sequential statistics (mSPRT) with Holm correction, sample-ratio-mismatch checks and guardrail metrics.
- Every variant gets a preview link and a site check on phone, tablet and desktop before anyone can approve it.
- Flat price per site, published, from €9/month, and your first test is free on every plan; no visitor meters.

### Where Duelpilot falls short

- You need an AI agent that speaks MCP; without one there is no visual editor to build variants by hand.
- No heatmaps or session recordings: Duelpilot counts results and sends variants to your own analytics.
- A young product (2026): fewer integrations and a shorter track record than established tools.

## Which one should you choose?

### Choose GrowthBook if…

Choose GrowthBook if you have engineers and a data warehouse and want open-source feature flags and experiments you can self-host, analysed on your own data.

### Choose Duelpilot if…

Choose Duelpilot if you want visual tests on any website without SDK work or a data team, with your own agent doing research, design and real-browser site checks, at a flat price per site rather than per seat.

## Try Duelpilot with your own agent

Give your agent one line: [set up Duelpilot for my site using /agents.md](https://duelpilot.com/agents.md). It opens a workspace, installs and verifies the script, and drafts the first test; you approve what goes live. ## FAQ

### Is GrowthBook a better fit for feature flags?

Yes. GrowthBook is a feature-flag and experimentation platform first, open source and warehouse-native. Duelpilot's flags exist only for code tests on its Code plan.

### Can an agent launch GrowthBook experiments?

GrowthBook's MCP exposes the REST API, so an agent with a write key can, unless you set the key to require confirmation. In Duelpilot no agent can launch or ship.

### Does GrowthBook have a visual editor?

Yes, on Pro and Enterprise, as a Chrome extension; tests are delivered by one of GrowthBook's SDKs, including a script tag. Duelpilot's visual tests are on every plan, from Starter at €9/month.

### Which is cheaper?

GrowthBook Starter is free for up to 3 users and Pro is $40 per seat per month. Duelpilot is €9, €49, €149 or €199 per month flat per site, with unlimited team members on Team and the first test free.
